I wouldn’t read too much into one bad game from Hundley as a substitute, given the circumstances.

It’s ancient history now, of course, but when Rodgers came in for an injured Brett Favre against the Patriots in 2006, the 2005 first-round pick went 4-of-12 passing for 32 yards and broke his foot. After his first two seasons in the league, Rodgers was a combined 15-of-31 for 111 yards with an interception. The Packers even reportedly thought about trading Rodgers for Randy Moss before the 2007 season.

We don’t know much about how Hundley will perform yet. McCarthy did an excellent job of developing Rodgers into a franchise quarterback, although his work with Matt Flynn seemed to be more smoke-and-mirrors given Flynn’s lack of success outside of Lambeau Field. Hundley’s preseason numbers have been great — he has completed 66.9 percent of his passes while throwing 10 touchdowns against one pick — but much of that came against third-stringers in 2015.

J.J. Watt went down with what looked like a tibial plateau fracture. He’s expected to miss the rest of the season. The Texans also lost Whitney Mercilus for the rest of the game against the Chiefs.

Yet the Bears still managed to blow an 11-point lead. It took a 96-yard kick return touchdown from Bobby Rainey and a 77-yard punt return score from Michael Campanaro to keep the Ravens in the game. But that was enough to do it, and the game went to overtime.

Mitchell Trubisky, in his first win as a pro, completed just half of his 16 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. But the combination of Trubisky doing just enough after regulation, Jordan Howard going off for 167 yards, and the Ravens’ offense generally being putrid led the Bears to a 27-24 win.

That’s not a phenomenal stat line. Trubisky still managed to become the first rookie quarterback to get a win in Baltimore since Jake Plummer in 1997, according to NFL Research. And he may have saved John Fox’s job in the process.

the six highest-paid goalies in the NHL have only one Stanley Cup amongst them

Therein lies the rub of signing Price, a world-class goaltender, to such a large contract, eating up so much cap space. Despite his brilliance, Price has been unable to get good not great teams over the hump, so far. And he’s far from the only high-paid, upper-echelon goalie to fall into this category.

Henrik Lundqvist of the Rangers, who used to be the league’s highest-paid goalie until Price inked his extension, also has amazing NHL and international credits, including a Vezina Trophy and Olympic Gold Medal. Yet despite three trips to the Eastern Conference finals since 2012, and an appearance in the 2014 Stanley Cup Final, Lundqvist and the Rangers have not won a Stanley Cup. Many argue that New York is anchored now by his long-term $8.5 million per year contract, especially with the 35-year-old Lundqvist showing a downturn in his game the past year.

In fact, the six highest-paid goalies in the NHL have only one Stanley Cup amongst them and Tuukka Rask earned that in 2011 as a backup to Tim Thomas with the Bruins. That group, consisting of Price, Lundqvist, Sergei Bobrovsky, Pekka Rinne, Rask and Braden Holtby, won each of the last six Vezinas, however, with zero Cups in that same span.

Clearly Zibanejad is trending up as an NHL player, with his prime years directly in front of him. His upside offensively is greater than Stepan, who recorded 50 or more points each of the past four years, but never topped the 57 he notched in 2013-14.

While likely miscast as a No. 1 center, Stepan was extremely important to the club on the defensive side of the puck, and was an excellent penalty killer to boot. Consistency was key with Stepan, and Zibanejad will need to prove that he can be as reliable while also building on the higher ceiling he has as a player.

49ers great Dwight Clark announces he has ALS

Former 49ers wide receiver Dwight Clark announced Sunday night he has ALS, often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

I have ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, Clark, 60, wrote on his blog, via San Jose Mercury News. Those words are still very hard for me to say.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, and debilitates the brain’s function of controlling muscle movement, per ALSA.org.

Now complete, those report results will be shared only with Ventura’s family and attorneys.

Autopsies are performed by law to any person who has died violently, a Dominican attorney general’s office spokesperson told the Star. But it (the report) is only given to the public ministry and to relatives.

This news leaves the Royals in limbo. There is $20.25 million in guaranteed money remaining on the five-year deal the right-hander signed before the 2015 season. But Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported last month the contract contains a provision that nullifies the remainder of the contract for failure to perform due to injury or death resulting from driving a motorized vehicle while intoxicated.

Greinke retired the next three Pirates batters to finish his start at eight innings on 107 pitches as he lowered his ERA to 2.79.

Fernando Rodney closed out the Pirates in the ninth to secure a 2-1 win.
